UGArden and Clarke Middle School Start the School Year Right

Cool things are happening at Clarke Middle! A few highlights:

UGArden, a learning based farm at UGA, helped initiate a new program to bring an Americorps/VISTA volunteer to Clarke Middle School to engage with the school community on issues of food insecurity, nutrition, and food production.

Over the summer, Clarke Middle ran a food camp where students practiced and built leadership skills related to improving community access to fresh food. In addition to learning how to grow food, students worked with local chefs to learn how to cook and prepare meals. You can read more about their program here.
